Treat thermal imaging as a decision aid, not a magic window. A quality sensor can reveal heat behind smoke, locate trapped people, and identify hotspots on a roof. It cannot reliably see through solid walls. Check thermal resolution, temperature range, refresh rate, and image clarity during night flights. Radiometric data is valuable because crews can compare exact temperatures, not only colors. However, calibration can drift after rough handling. That detail is easy to overlook.
